Are You Ready for a Yoga Teacher Training? 3 Reasons to Go For It!

butterfly

If you love yoga and want to learn more; more about your body, your mind, the nature of suffering and the path to transcend it all, then it just may be time for you to participate in a Yoga Teacher Training, even if you have no interest in teaching.

Very early on in my yoga practice, it was clear to me that I wanted to be a teacher. I wanted to share the peace and strength that only yoga gave me. Fast forward four years to my first yoga teacher training. I chose a month long residential immersion and loved it, I was able to focus full time on learning without the daily distractions I was subject to in my life at home. The training taught me what I needed to know in order to put a good class together, and to my pleasant surprise it also brought to light many of the answers I had been seeking on a personal and spiritual level.

Here are three things to consider when you feel ready to take your practice to the next level:

  • A Teacher Training is a rare opportunity to dedicate about 200 hours to reading, studying, asking questions, discussing and practicing yoga with curious, interesting people.
  • You will have the opportunity to delve deeper into aspects of the art, science and philosophy of yoga that are too complex to explore in a regular studio class or workshop.
  • Spending your time and money on something healthy you enjoy, especially an educational endeavor that promotes personal growth, is the best investment I know of!

There are many options for trainings today. Your local studio, your favorite online instructor or the exotic country you’ve been wanting to visit may offer a program that is perfect for you. Do some research. Enjoy the journey.
